Martinique welcomes international sport competitions

Martinique has become a desirable location for international sports competitions, putting the destination under the spotlight. This year, the Island will host several world-class tennis, surfing, hiking, and jet skiing competitions.

 

Currently hosting the CARIFTA Swimming Championships, the island is also scheduled to host the Open International d'Eco Beach Tennis, April 1-3, the first round of the Jetracer World Championship IJSBA, an International Jet race Competition, April 15-17, and After a successful first edition in 2015, Martinique will once again host the Martinique Surf Pro, a World Surf League (WSL) Qualification Series event, from April 17-24, 2016.

Norwegian to resume service to Martinique

Low-cost, long-haul airline Norwegian will resume its seasonal winter service to the French Caribbean following a successful first winter season. 

Nonstop service from Baltimore-Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI), Logan International Airport (BOS) and John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) to Martinique will begin on November 10. 

Norwegian’s service between the United States and the French Caribbean began last December.

The flights for the 2016 winter season will operate three times per week to Martinique from New York, and twice per week to Martinique from Baltimore/Washington, D.C. and Boston, respectively.

Martinique to host first female entrepreneurship awards in Caribbean

The ceremony for the first awards for female entrepreneurship and cooperation in the Caribbean, presented by the Guardian Group and Martinique Pionnières, will take place in December 2015 in Martinique.

 

The Pioneers network, present in 15 regions in Europe, Africa and the Americas, works together with female entrepreneurs to help them create and develop innovative and sustainable businesses.

Martinique Pionnières, incorporated in 2012, has, since its inception, supported over 60 projects, and contributed to the creation of some 20 companies and more than 50 permanent jobs

Martinique Pionnières helps these women never be discouraged in their daily battle to fulfill their role to make an idea, a project, a company happen.
